Well, I am really in awe of Bex's craftiness. This is as crafty as I get! It's like a scrapbook on my fridge! (NOT!).
I think this is what many American's refrigerators look like. (Maybe not??). You can see a few of my favorite people, bands, artists, etc. Yes it's plastered mostly with kids(are you impressed Mary?). The sweetie with the red bow is BallerinaGurl's daughter, Lexi. I love Betty Boop and Hello Kitty. Is that sick or what? :)
So, my dearest bloggers...your mission...should you choose to accept it is to POST A PIC OF YOUR FRIDGE.
I wish LAURA was a Blogger- she has the best fridge in the USofA!
I will post it if she sends me a pic (hint hint).
I love the cartoon- the boy is saying to his dad (they are walking through a forest): "Wow what is this place? It smells like Home Depot!"

BBC Radio 2 I love you!
Oh man...I just listened to the EXCLUSIVE World Premiere of Rufus Wainwright's song "Going to a Town" which is from his soon to be released cd entitled Release the Stars. Being the emo gurl I am, it made me cry. He has hit the way I feel about my beloved country on the head.
My husband and I are disenchanted with well, so much here. We will be moving to Taiwan in July. My husband is giddy about it, I am so-so. I love my friends, my job, the beautiful kids I teach - I have become quite attached to them. I have a pretty cushy life here- life will be very tricky for me in Taiwan. It's very crowded, we won't have a yard, oh and there is that huge language barrier to deal with. I will have no choice but to learn Mandarin - it's SOOO hard. But life should be an adventure...so I will roll with it and count my blessings. Great thing is I will be able to teach at the Taipei American School - they are desperate for substitute teachers. Another plus is that I am going to get my teaching credential in Special Needs (on-line) so I will have lots of time for that. (As long as I don't wander over here and/or MySpace during lectures! har har har).
So...back to the song. Oh please don't hate me Dan L! I know I get carried away about Bush and the war...but I will never back down. It sickens me. As the Dixie Chicks say, "I'm not ready to make nice."
Rufus wrote this song after playing in New Orleans shortly after Katrina. (Lovely how Bush abandoned those poor souls).
Going To A Town
I’m going to a town that has already been burnt down,
I’m going to a place that has already been disgraced,
I’m gonna see some folks who have already been let down,
I’m so tired of America
I’m gonna make it up for all of the Sunday times,
I’m gonna make it up for all of the nursery rhymes,
They never really seem to want to tell the truth,
I’m so tired of you, America
Making my own way home, ain’t gonna be alone,
I’ve got a life to lead, America
I’ve got a life to lead
Tell me, do you really think you go to hell for having love, [Rufus is openly gay]
Tell me, enough of thinking everything that you’ve done is good,
I really need to know, after soaking the body of Jesus Christ in blood,
I’m so tired of America
I really need to know,
I may just never see you again, or might as well,
You took advantage of a world that loved you well,
I’m going to a town that has already been burnt down,
I’m so tired of you, America
Making my own way home, ain’t gonna be alone,
I’ve got a life to lead, America
I’ve got a life to lead,
I got a soul to feed,
I got a dream to heed,
And that’s all I need,
Making my own way home, ain’t gonna be alone,
I’m going to a town,
That has already been burnt down
I believe Rufus moved to Berlin. I will ask him when I see him next month!
Ok maybe not...

Jose Gonzalez - Heartbeats
If you haven't heard Jose Gonzalez then watch and LISTEN! Jose is a MASTER of covering songs. Heartbeats is actually a song by the Swedish band The Knife and his version sounds NOTHING like theirs. Incredible. You can hear The Knife's version HERE. I like their version as well.
Jose is from Sweden, but his parents are from Argentina. THANK YOU lovely Laura for introducing me to his music!
I saw him perform live in October, 2006 at the Casbah here in San Diego. He was sublime... very shy. I met him after the show and he signed my cd. I had my pic taken with him but I look like a beluga so sorry I am not posting THAT one.
I'll post another video from him soon...he is also a member of a VERY cool band called Junip. He does a FANTASTIC cover of Springsteen's "The Ghost of Tom Joad" on their ep. I will hunt down a link for it and post that also. You can hear two of their songs on MySpace.
Enjoy this one!!

Another tag!
This is one of my favorite knick knacks. Like Rachel, I actually think skulls are kinda cool. I absolutely LOVE this kind of Mexican folk art. I won't say who this famous artistic couple is...maybe you can figure it out. So, if you are inspired by this random photo, please spill your literary guts all over my blog.
I have mucho to talk about...Sue is a fountain of JOY today...for his royal gorgeousness is coming to SAN DIEGO (Solana Beach actually) on APRIL 28th and another sweetie, Teddy Thompson (son of folk singer extraordinaire Richard Thompson) is opening!!! Yes it's true, dear Ru is coming to town! Bonus is it's a very small club (the Belly Up). I saw both of them there about 4 years ago (hard to believe! maybe it was 3) anyway...the divine Martha Wainwright (Ru's sis) sang backup for Rufus. I wish she was performing too but oh well. I miss you Martha!!
So my plan is to get a picture of him signing a picture of US (where he was signing my poster) that was published in the Monthly Music Observer in the UK.
Am I a sick chick or what????

Me and You-know-who in San Diego
Ok, yes I look like "tons of fun" (and believe me, I AM a fun gal...most of the time)...but I do love this shot.
Rufus looks much happier to see me!
I had just given him homemade truffles and about a half pound of Ghiradelli chocolate.
He met Sujoy (hubby) and our friend Simon after I did (I wasn't there when they met- I was chatting with the other Rufusfreakazoids).
So...Rufus hits on my husband. ("ooh I like your jacket" - he says to Sujoy, "very stylish."). Sujoy told him that I love Rufus more than I love him...Rufus laughed...his manager laughed harder!
Promise to get off this Rufus kick soon...aw don't be sad Ru.
I have some excellent music to share.
Laters,
Suexxxxxxxx

New Tag!
Apologies to Woof Nanny...who tagged me eons ago.
Top Five Weird Things About Sue
Ok I edited this because it was a bit embarrassing! Sorry James and Sue...
0. I just remembered this one...I can't really blow dry my hair without being mistaken for Link on the Mod Squad...so this is how Sue (often) dries her hair before work.
a. Get in car.
b. Turn on ignition
c. crank the heat
d. lower front windows all the way
e. pull out of garage
f. stick head out window
g. travel 80 mph down the freeway because I am late
h. Stick out tongue
i. kidding! but all the rest is true.
1. I have obsessive compulsive disorder...but only when I cook (ok that point is an arguable one to those who really know and love me). When I cook, I can't STAND seeing even one morsel of food on the counter...no empty cans, dirty dishes, vegetable peels etc. I must have clear surfaces or else! I don't wash my hands compulsively or anything like that! It pretty much is contained with cooking...it's weird because I am not a neat freak and can't stand cleaning my house.
2. I have had many crushes on gay men. Oh that's a big secret!!
3. I am absent-minded beyond belief...the other day I laundered my cell phone (I picked up the strange habit of keeping it in my bathrobe pocket). You may have read how I accidently tried to take a shower in a complete stranger's house...(See "Get a Clue, Sue!").
4. Mister Rogers (R.I.P) is one of my heroes! "I like the way you are, I wouldn't want to change you, or even re-arrange you....I L-I-K-E like you!" I used to cry as a kid when he went off the air for the summer.
5. I had a very cool out -of- body experience while meditating when I was around 26 or so. It started off as something very primordial (with bubbles and sand) then I saw what looked like pennies flashing before my eyes (yeah that's weird) then I felt my soul well, the only way to describe it is that I felt like a comet - reaching up into space (it was very dark wherever I went).
Ok now I need to tag 3 people....hmmm...
How about: Lucy/Pictures of Lily, James Casey, and MetalChick?
Feel free to comment on your weirdness if I didn't tag you!!!!!!!
Love ya'll.
